Lezing Gabrielle Malcolm - Archetypes, Empathy, and Satire

Dr Gabrielle Malcolm has researched into and published about 19th century women’s writing for many years. Her work on Austen studies has appeared in English Review magazine, Independent newspaper, Jane Austen’s Regency World Magazine, and she has been a regular speaker at festivals and conferences. During this workshop Gabrielle will look at how Austen’s great skill with writing character developed into such a solid influence on later authors.

Archetypes

Jane Austen's novels gave us archetypes that are found everywhere in popular culture and have impacted media worldwide. Thoughtful, empathetic, witty, and alive – Gabrielle offers, above all, a celebration of Austen’s characters. Mr. Darcy, Mrs. Bennet, Lady Catherine, the greats from Pride and Prejudice will be there, with other stops along the way.

Dr Gabrielle Malcolm

Gabrielle was interviewed for the Channel 5 (UK) programme In Jane Austen’s Footsteps and for BBC Radio 3’s The Verb. Her two book titles are: Fan Phenomena: Jane Austen (Intellect, 2016) and There’s Something About Darcy (Lume, 2022).

Deze lezing vindt plaats in de StemmingMakerij op de 1e verdieping en is geheel in het Engels.
