A Modern Landmark

The LocHal (18m high) was built in 1932 and was the largest of several buildings, used by the Dutch railways. It's situated in an area now known as the Spoorzone, where trains were repaired and maintained. The restoration of the building, quite a challenge for the architects and contractors concerned, started in 2017. The glass and steel construction were rebuilt, and many monumental elements were preserved.

Since its opening in 2019, the Lochal library is a place where everyone is welcomed. Somewhere to go to find a good book, to read the latest newspaper, for a good cup of coffee or for a fine place to work or study. Inhabitants can meet each other, they can experiment with recent technology, visit an exhibition, or take part in, among other things, a workshop or debate. Come and see for yourself what 11000m2 has to offer!
